To combine multiple pdfs into one, for printing purposes or distribution:

gs -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOUTPUTFILE=combine.pdf -dBATCH 1.pdf 2.pdf 3.pdf

This fonctionality is also available via the pdfjam package (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/ … re/pdfjam/)

i want to join 2 pdf files page by page (i.e. file1-page1, then file2-page1, then file1-page2, ..so on)
any ideas?

I know this was asked long time ago, but in case it might help somebody:

You probably need to split the PDF files first and then merge how you want, one way to split is detailed here http://www.linux.com/archive/f … ture/53701
